DIY – Make your Own Chocolate Eggs!

Everybody loves a bit of Balloon Craft!
Get creative this Easter and make your very own Hollow Chocolate Eggs using Balloons of course!

Originally created by Sandra Denneler from SheKnows is this great Balloon Craft idea, a perfect project to do with the kids or by yourself.

Follow these 4 simple steps to make your own:

  • Chocolate candy melts in pastel colors
  • Piping bags
  • Latex balloons #yayforballoons
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Straws or wooden skewers
  • Clothes Pegs
  • Plastic cups or glasses (larger than your inflated balloons)
  • Mini Chocolate Eggs

STEP 1Put a few Mini Eggs inside the latex balloons and inflate to about the size of a real egg or slightly larger. Put 1 cup of chocolate candy melts into a bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating until completely melted.

STEP 2 – Pour the melted chocolate into a piping bag and cut off the tip. Hold an inflated balloon by the tied end and lightly spray your balloons with the nonstick cooking spray, then drizzle melted chocolate across the bottom of the balloon in all directions. Turn the balloon over, and continue drizzling chocolate over the top and sides.

STEP 3 – Use the Clothes Peg and clip the balloon to a straw or wooden skewer and balance it inside a cup or glass to dry.

STEP 4 – When the chocolate has dried remove the balloon, using scissors cut away the tied part of the balloon to release the air. Slowly pull the balloon away from the inside of the chocolate egg and carefully remove. You may need to carefully twist the balloon so that the Mini Eggs stay inside.

TOP TOPS:
*Be creative with the sweet choice, you can make your eggs are large as you would like!
*You can mix the colours of the chocolate or layer them
*Take our time when removing the balloon from the egg and you should be able to get it through the small gap to keep you egg looking whole!
